Tennis Regional Tournament 2012

Our year six tennis team won the regional tennis competition at Llantrisant Leisure Centre last week. They will now represent the region in the south wales finals day at the David Lloyd Centre next month. Well done to all for taking part and good luck in the finals.

Double Sporting Success

Here is combination of photographs from the Regional and National finals of the Urdd Football tournament 2012. We entered three teams in the regional tournament, 2 boys teams and 1 girls team. The girls team lost in the final after an amazing performance. They only conceded one goal all day, unfortunately that was in the final. The boys teams came first and fourth, our best combined result ever. Pontyclun Primary School are now the Mid Glamorgan regional champions 2012. Both teams played fantastically well and represented the school admirably. Our champions then traveled to Aberystwyth on a beautifully sunny day to represent the region in the national finals. Here they played their best football of the year. After some tight matches and superb performances the boys made it to the national final. With only two teams left in the competition the boys once again gave 100% but unfortunately it was not to be their day. Pontyclun became runners up in the All Wales competition. Well done boys the school is so proud of you. Today our Rugby Team became Taff Ely "large schools" champions. After wining the sevens competitions earlier in the season this is the second trophy that the school has won this season. The boys also won the year 5 title a year ago, making this team champions of all competitions over the last two years. A massively impressive performance today as Pontyclun beat Dolau Primary in the final 49-40. Equally impressive is their winning record over the last two years. Well done and congratulations to the entire squad, the school is very proud of you.

Amazing Skiers

What a day, the children have been amazing today. They are so well behaved and they have really improved with their skiing. We skied four hours today and then went swimming this evening. All the children are tucked up nicely in bed and are looking forward to another  day on the slopes tomorrow.After coming off the slopes the children played crazy golf, played in the park and relaxed after their hard day on the slopes.

Safe arrival

Hi to all mum's and Dad's, we have had a great journey over here, no one at all had travel sickness which is a first. They have all been fed (we checked all 28) and are now in bed after a night of Tirolean dancing. We are all looking forward to a great day on the slopes tomorrow, all the children have been given ski's, helmets, poles and boots. The weather is expected to be sunny all week, just like home. All the children are fine, hope that you are all well back home I will try and post tomorrow evening. (Having problems with signal, will be sure to post photos of girls tomorrow, sorry).

 

Football Success

A huge well done to the football teams that took part in the New Directions' Football tournament. Both teams played excellent football in the right spirit. The girls made it to the semi final before losing to the eventual winners 1-0. The boys won their tournament (on penalties in the final). Well done to both teams you played amazingly well (both teams only conceding 1 goal all day), you are a credit to the school with your attitudes and sportsmanship.
